Job Description

The Role
The role’s primary purpose is to drive and direct a team of DNA Analysts to profile DNA samples for loading to the National DNA Database within contractual Turnaround Times (TATs) to the highest quality standard and most cost effective manner.

Key Accountabilities

DNA Team Lead follows all the responsibilities within a DNA Analyst role, and in addition:

  • Manage and lead DNA Unit with clear direction and targets to achieve maximum output.
  • Inspire team with clear and understandable performance metrics/targets.
  • Organise sample throughput to maximum efficiency; identify excess time capacity to allow resource to be deployed to other areas.
  • Utilise KPI reports to manage workflow, track samples, monitor performance trends, including capturing dips in performance and addressing these before contractual service delivery effected.
  • Ensure procedures are completed to highest quality standards.  Any non-conformances managed through local and company quality systems.
  • Work with Business Unit Manager (BUMA), providing weekly updates on DNA Unit’s performance to achieve organisational targets/metrics and objectives.
  • Direct line management of Workflow Supervisors and Senior DNA Analysts, to ensure continued personal and professional development though PDPR process; manage any quality issues and non-conformances and on-going development.
  • Manage absence/abstractions and succession planning to ensure service delivery.
  • Developing a team strategy inclusive of training to ensure both team and individual wellbeing.
  • Work with other Team Leads and DNA Quality Manager to develop training strategy and programme for the DNA Unit.

Additional Information

Salary:                                Competitive                       

Location:                            Birchwood Park, Warrington         

Contract:                            12 months FTC 

Hours:                                37.5 hours per week

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work completed on-site, applicants should note that security clearance will be required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have three years continuous residency in the UK.
